D90 | D-MOVIE
Worth hitting the link to see how the DSLR will kick start the video revolution. imagine racking focus on a 50mm f1.4.
D90 | D-MOVIE
A new idea for D-SLRs, the D90 offers a movie function, allowing you to shoot movies in three different motion JPEG formats: 320 x 216 pixels, 640 x 424 pixels and 1,280 x 720 pixels. Now you can capture life’s moving moments with added drama by using many of Nikon’s NIKKOR lenses, including the AF DX Fisheye 10.5mm f/2.8G ED and the Micro-NIKKOR lenses. The shallow depth of field can give your movies a more creative and emotional impact. An additional benefit is the D90 image sensor, which is much larger than a typical camcorder for higher image quality and exceptional high ISO performance during low-light shooting.

Pushing it to the extreme
So much of my work is aiming for the highest of quality, utilizing lighting, I wanted to push thing to the extreme. On my drive home at night I've noticed spots all the way where there are large amounts of light spent lighting up industrial warehouses, car lots, road ways etc.
So one rainy night three models and I explored the outer reaches of light,ISO, water resistance, and processing. Some of these were shot upwards of 3200iso on the D300. A few were all orange and flat to begin with. I really tried to tweak these to the extreme to understand the limits of the tools.

"This is great! The snow the sun, AWESOME!"
'I'm cold, when are we going home?"
"Yeah this sucks"

The biz and this town.
I am all about sharing information in our industry. Anyone who knows me, knows I like to network with other photogs. I've instigated some of the largest meetings of commercial photogs in this town. I love to "talk shop".
But if you want to know something, and it's information that will help you try to steal a client away from me, have the balls to at least tell me your name, when asked. If you can't handle that, how you gonna handle the job?

Minotaur Shock justifies his prices
(4AD artist who's decided that he will try and convince you what each track is worth.)Minotaur Shock
Basically, it boils down to this. I don’t make enough money out of music for it to be a career; I have a day job. I have a little family and a big mortgage, hence it’s difficult for me to tour for too long. I couldn’t afford to pay a band even if I wanted to. This isn’t a sob story mind, its just a subtle way of guilting you into paying for the music. I just invented a verb right there. If you don’t pay for the music, then 4AD will lose interest, I will get dropped, scrabble around for a while, probably toy with the idea of releasing an online album myself, procrastinate and eventually there is the distinct possibility that you will not hear from me again. No one wants that. Well, no one that’s bothered reading this much.
So, instead of doing a Radiohead and asking you to pay what you think the music is worth, I have decided to try and explain what I feel the music is worth, and explain my reasoning. Of course, in an ideal world I would charge you £20.00 per track, but I’m a realist. I have been honest with both you and myself. It should all be quite self-explanatory.

The IE6 curse
The biggest "feature" to change with .mac's move to Mobile Me is the complete and utter abandonment of support for Internet Explorer 6. Complete in the sense that it won't even let you load the site.
It's complete in that galleries created with Mobile Me through Aperture are unaccessible to the vast number of clients who work in offices that don't allow you to simply upgrade to IE7 or Firefox and certainly not Safari!
While I can see the WHY behind this move. Developers universally hate IE6. But it makes for a big pain in the butt when trying to share web galleries with clients of all sorts.
Personally I urge everyone to upgrade to Firefox. No, Flock isn't supported by Mobile Me either.

Orb Audio
People's Choice Home Theater Speaker System
These are the speakers I bought for my home theatre.
I initially bought the two speakers and the sub as a basic stereo setup. Since you have to buy online, I thought this was a low risk way of trying it. If the performance wasn't good enough I could use it in another room. But so far they are plenty for my untrained ears.Upgrading to the home theatre package was a breeze, one phone call and Orb honoured the package price, and sent them off.
I'm no audiophile, but they sound great to me.The other factor in my decision was the size and look of them. Not overpowering the room, and they come in several colours. WIth a 3yr old in the house, you can't have 4ft high towers straddling the TV.
