Bibble revisited

In my search for the perfect workflow I gave Bibble a fair shake about a year ago. But you know anything that strays too far from the Photoshop workflow can seem daunting (see Capture One for a more extreme example!) As much as I WANTED to like Bibble as much as some seem to I was alays left feeling like I was missing how to use the program to it's fullest potential. With Nikon Capture NX sucking Wind I wanted to be able to find a program that utilizes the Dual Core of the next gen Macs as I want to upgrade soon.

Seems I wasn't the only one. By great demand the Bibble Lab has created a Learning Centre where you can watch some movies on how to use the program. If you ever tried the functional demo and were left confused, or if you shoot RAW then you really need to revisit the program.

Oh,one tip, surpress preview genneration in the prefs. A big folder of RAW images will load MUCH faster.

Radiodread

A reggae version of Radiohead's Ok Computer? Hey it's not as crazy as it sounds, it's pretty good! The same team who brought you Dub Side of the Moon, yep, you guessed it, a reggae version of the Floyd classic.

Saw this in Future Shop and HAD to have it. I also have a string quartet tribute to the album by another bunch. Then there is the Picking On series, where they do bluegrass covers of Zepplin, Van Halen etc. And just yesterday I was listening to the Moog Cookbook do classic rock like a Switched On Moog album. Oh and I have the Strings Do Zepplin. Oh and "What if Motzart wrote Born to Be Wild?"

As you can tell I dig this stuff!:-)

Your Message on the Golden Arches

Type whatever you want and then download it. Fun.

War on Terror Fashion

Five years later this is where we're at. Security and the War on Terror portrayed as a fashion spread in Italian Vogue. Brilliantly done, whether you agree with it or not. It DOES high light parts of our life that we've come to except as normal that 5.5 years ago we would have scoffed at as heavy handed.

Midnite Inbox

This looks promising. A GTD specific app for Mac OS X. Kind of talking style cues from the Delicious Library, it's in beta now. Definitely keep an eye on this one.

Nasa TV: The Space Shuttle LIVE!

Just a reminder that now that Atlantis is finally up you can watch/listen to everything they do at the link above. The streaming video is amazingly fast clear and consistent.

Check the schedule as their day is some what opposite of ours. They sleep in the afternoon and work late at (our) night. Space walks and the Canadarm throwing parts around on Monday! COOL!

Women's Enterprise Centre

Another round of portraits for the Women's Enterprise Centre. This time featuring one of my FAVOURITE clients. Deanna Traa of Ricki's.

How to dress like a Mac LifeClever ;-)

Guess what I am going as this Halloween... a MAC as seen in those commercials. Lifeclever breaks down the cost of dressing like the guy inthe commercials. Hell I already HAVE these clothes, except for the shoes. I had a B&W checkered pair back inthe 80's.

Update: I hadn't seen this spot yet. Hilarious to me only because this has been the reaction to the iPhoto book I have of Liam sitting around here. This EXACT reaction!

Camping 2006: end of the season

Well I'd be the last to call it a summer after Sept Long Weekend, but becuase of our trip, sadly it has to be. We had a blast this first year of camping with Liam in our new trailer. I've managed to learn a lot of things. Here are a few and I am sure I'll come up with a few more:
-There is a world of adventure in the path leading to the bathroom
-How to back a trailer into a site WITHOUT arguing which side is left
-Bacon always smells even better when it's on someone else's fire. mmmmm bacon
-We are "morning people"
-Even sleeping in a tent trailer when it's only +3C, is better than staying in the city
-With enough newspaper you can burn anything!

The Dial-Up BBS Revisited

Article about some dial up BBS's that still remain. For those who take all this internet stuff for granted, this was how it was. I started in 1992 and till about 94-95 this was "being Online".

I love the ghost town metaphor! We should bug Stacy to dig up an backup version of MIT in it's headay in a form we could peruse. Unfortunately I would think that is harder than you'd think with First Class software woefully gone. Hey I have a G3 with system 9 on it!... Oh never mind.

VintageComputing.com | Vintage Computing and Gaming Blog Archive The Dial-Up BBS Revisited: "These few remaining dial-up BBSes understandably receive very few calls these days, so they tend to feel a little eerie and lonely, like digital ghost towns. Some of the message threads out there have been left hanging and incomplete, with the original post echoing like a thin, ghostly voice through time, still pleading for a response. In some cases, it’s as if an entire online community was caught unawares, swallowed up, and perfectly preserved in Pompeii-like ash. Everything’s there, in place…except the people. Perhaps analogies to the Mary Celeste would be more appropriate."
