Fortunately these days I work with some great clients and haven't had this happen in along time. But I am sure anyone in the creative field can relate to this video.

Two filmmakers' sites to watch

Spike Jonze is the guy who is going to bring Where the Wild Things Are to the big screen. He's best known for Being John Malkovich. His blog is full of stuff that has interested him, glimpses of the production and generally interesting. His blog is called We Love You So.

David Lynch went on a road trip and filmed people all over America. His Interview Project will either be bittersweet like The Straight Story, or creepy weird like Inland Empire or both. Launches in June but watch the trailer all the way to the end.

Pipe in the Hydro Bldg

A few shots from documenting the use of Knauf insulation products in the construction of the new Hydro Building, downtown. I really enjoy doing these kinds of jobs, as they take you into places where you wouldn't normally get to, and learn about how things work. These were taken at the very top of the Hydro Bldg, the mechanical room on the roof, above the top floor. You forget how big a project this building is, until you talk to some of the guys who've been working here for close to two years, insulating pipe.

Apollo 11

With the 40th Anniversary of Apollo 11th's landing on the moon coming up this summer, of course I am once again reading all I can. I finally tackled the exhaustive biography of Neil Armstrong, First Man. It's chock full of detail and not that much insight on the man, as to be expected.

With the Anniversary coming up I noticed in Chapters a new crop of kids books about the lunar landings. The one that stood out for me, and I just HAD to buy was Moonshot by Brian Floca. Wonderfully detailed illustrations, and a great telling of the story this has to be one of the better kids books on Apollo I have seen. Perfectly aimed to 4-7 years.

And soon enough I will once again sit down and watch my Apollo 11 boxset. You can literally watch the entire time they spent on the lunar surface. Yeah I know it's a little obsessive, but I am child of the Space Age!

Yip Yip Horray!

"Youth in Philanthropy (YiP) is a program designed to introduce local high school students to philanthropy and community development. The program provides hands-on experience that benefits both participating students and local charities."

Last night's wind up event is an opportunity for each student group to report on their experiences, through song, skits, powerpoints, speeches, raps, whatever they want. If you ever need to assuring that we're in good hands with today's youth, just get out to this event. A lot of work for everyone at the Foundation, but a lot of fun!
