My retro Olympus the LT105
All the talk about the new retro style of the Olympus reminded me of my old point n shoot, The LT Zoom 105. I've hung on to this camera simply cuz it looks cool! This was one of the two P&S I took for my month long trip to Thailand back in 1999. It was a huge leap of faith on my part to only take small point n shoot cameras rather than a SLR and all the lenses. Keep in mind this was with film. You couldn't see what anything, you had no idea what the camera was getting. Between this camera and another Nikon P&S I had coverage from 28mm to 105mm.
I had the hand painted art on the back in Chang Mai, Dec 1999 mere days before the end of the century. For that reason alone I will hang on to this camera.

Retro styling
Gotta admit, this looks very cool. The new Olympus E-P1 is one of the new crop of cameras to pay homage to the past, and incorporate the new tech. I think you're going to see a lot more of this kind of thing, as the race to up the ante on the innards has pretty much waned. Now it's a style and handling competition

The amazing tech
Just a grab shot of my client Carol showing our 93 yr old subject her portrait. The Wifi sends low rez's into my laptop righta way and it never ceases to amaze people.
But to someone who's 93 and was saying "My, you use a lot of film!" it might be especially amazing

The story about the most famous image from 20yrs ago
The NYT photoblog Lens has the story behind the most famous image from 10 years ago, Tank Man.
There is also a PBS documentary about the image.
One of the most enduring symbols of standing up to oppression, you can get it on a T shirt!
