SHAW home internet, NOT any old port in the storm.

This week Shaw in Winnipeg closed off port 25. What does that mean? It means if you use any mail address and program OTHER than the one Shaw provides you, you won't be able to send email. Get in to your outgoing mail server and change the port from 25 to 587.

I mention this here in hopes to save someone else from a 45 min call to tech support with the end result being that it's Apple's fault. I should have googled the problem in the first place, I found the solution in about 10 mins of searching.

Shaw did this presumably to stem the flow of spam and mass mailers. They didn't tell anyone, not even their tech support phone staff! Feel secure.
