Tales of the Rat Fink
I watched this just in time for Wolrd of Wheels this weekend. While the doc is ok, and a bit much at times, they do tell a great story with animations, stills and some cool cool cars. Ed Big Daddy Roth was the first guy who did graphic tees, before him t shirts were only white! Hard to believe eh? First guy to use fiberglass for a bidy, they banned his car cuz it was winning too much. And of course he wwas a visonary in terms of merchandising, the model kits the Tee shirts, everything.
The best part on the DVD is a home video of Roth and his old buddy Von Ducth handpainting a car in the 80's Pnstriping by hand is cool but Von Ducth did stylized lettering on the hood, backwards with no guides, all freehand! Woah!
