United 93

Finally saw it last night. Funny how so many seemingly mundane images hold so much more weight in the post 9/11 world. Three scenes of the many that stand out for me:

-The collective jaw dropping silence as everyone on the ground witnesses the second plane hit the tower. the airtraffic controllers, the NORAD people, the FAA, all of them in positions where KNOWING what's going on is their job, registering the fear of the unknown.

-The head guy at the FAA ordering all air traffic grounded. When his underlings mention the accoicated costs in the order of billions this order will cost, he points to the screen and yells "We are at war with SOMEONE!" The enemy at the time, a mystery.

-The final rush to the cockpit. Messy, desperate and void of any Hollywood bluster, these final scenes really ring true to life.
