One Laptop for THIS Child
With a little googling I found a forum where all users of the OLPC XO hangout... the intended Xmas gift is now looking like a birthday gift, if we're lucky! From this thread I've read the total orders from Canada was around 4000. Not nearly as many as I thought from Canada, but since the whole give one get one program is pretty niche, what can you expect.
The good news is finding this site, I will now be able to update some of the OS , install Skype and other cool things for Liam.

Charles confirmed for me that my order is in place. Disappointingly, he also informed me, after checking with his supervisor, that the Canadian shipments are slated to begin 15Feb08.Though I am disappointed, I am resigned to still temper that date with possible further delay expectations.

What ever happend to just buying a regular laptop, put stickers on it, then donating money? ;P
This one is cheaper, only $200. But you pay $400, and they buy another one for a kid somewhere in the world.
Considering the Asus EEE PC, another linux based sub notebook, is also $400, I thought the XO was a great choice. The Bonus is the laptop is MADE for little kids, with a OS designed for them.
