"Which DSLR should I get?"

I get asked this all the time. Check out Ken Rockwell's comparison of the base DSLR models from Canon and Nikon. Not everyone agrees with Rockwell, but at least  you know where he stands. Being a Nikon guy myself I tend to agree with him :-)
I picked up a D40 body now that the D40X is out. The price dropped, making it a very cheap and fun lil camera. It's on the way and should be here next week.
It's only 6MP but is plenty for 89% of what most people are gonna use it for. If it's lighter body and fun to use layout means I have more pics to email or post on Flickr, then who CARES how many MP it is! 6MP will go 20x24, just fine!

Hey Ian, thanks for the recommendation. I have a couple of questions:

1) If I were to buy one of these, where is the best place to get it?

2) How does this camera handle avaiallble light and built in flash shots? I currently have a small Pentax Optio S4 that I use for general family type shooting but it does very poorly in situations such as shooting the kids at their school Christmas programs in the gym etc. When I use to use my 35mm SLRs (with add on flash), the results were much better. How do you think this D40 with the built in flash would do in this situation? I'm also interested in night photography, would you recommend the D40 for this?

Thanks
